EAA assessment of products and services for the EU market

Since 28 June 2025, only accessible products and services covered by the European Accessibility Act may enter the EU market. We assess your product the way a market surveillance authority does: from the device through the packaging and instructions to the customer helpline.

A product is more than a device

The European Accessibility Act (Directive (EU) 2019/882, transposed in Slovakia by Act No. 351/2022 Coll.) assesses a product as a whole. The product itself and its user interface must be accessible, but so must the information on its use on the packaging and in the instructions, the way support is provided, and every digital channel through which the product or service is used: the mobile app, the website, electronic invoices, contract terms. A bundle of several products or services is assessed as one.

What we assess

  • Digital products and software: operating systems, applications, e-readers, self-service terminals and their interfaces.
  • Physical products: controls, tactile and audio elements, labelling, packaging and the accompanying instructions, in line with Annex I of the Directive.
  • Services and channels: websites, mobile applications, electronic tickets and invoices, customer support, information on the accessibility of the product.
  • Manufacturer documentation: the documents supporting the conformity assessment, the technical documentation and the EU declaration of conformity that must be available for the product.

How we work

  1. We determine which requirements of Annex I apply to your product or service and which clauses of EN 301 549 cover them.
  2. We test the product manually, with assistive technology and, where it makes sense, with users with disabilities.
  3. We rank the findings by severity and determine what prevents placing the product on the market and what can be addressed in the next version.
  4. We prepare input for the technical documentation and, where relevant, assess whether an exemption on the grounds of disproportionate burden or fundamental alteration may apply.

What you get

  • A conformity assessment report stating the requirements, methods, findings and recommendations.
  • Input for the technical documentation and for the accessibility information the manufacturer must publish.
  • On request, a conformance report in the VPAT/ACR format for business partners and contracting authorities.
